model 700 5R millspec 20" barrel?????

I have been looking to purchase a 700 5R millspec rifle. While I was in Turners the other day I asked them to look the rifle up for me to see what they run cost wise for comparison to the net prices I have seen.

The salesperson asked if I wanted a 24" or 20" barrel.

I thought this rifle was only available in 24"?????

anyone know for sure?

I think the 223 one is 20" but don't qoute me on it. My 308 is 24". Also make sure it's the right one, the real 5r is not in the Remington catalog?

Both are 24" barrel I have never heard of 20" 5R Remington 700. I think he was just telling you FUD!

nope,go to sniper counrty px,they got 'em.they DO offer the r5 in 20" barrel.i think they've only been available since late last year.

I just saw that. But are the rifles factory from Remington or are they modified by sniper country ?

Pretty sure the 308's are only 24 inches. I bought mine through gunbroker. If you get one you will be happy, they are real shooters.

I've got a VTR 5R that has a 20" barrel. It does have an integrated brake that makes it 22", but the effective barrel length is 20".

I would like a part number also...... Like stated above me you learn something new everyday. The thing that get me though is why you can't find them at anyplace ? the only place i ever seen them is at snipercountry like johnnyDL pointed out. That's why I asked if it was maybe customized by snipercountry themselves.

I found the 20" version at sniper country px but there was no photo available and it was out of stock. i was unable to find it anywhere else. It's possible that this is something they are making.

Ok so I got off the phone with Remington and they said they do not produce such rifle. All the rifles they make are the 24 inch barrel. Like my original thought that is a rifle that is modified by snipercountry.
