Looking at getting something for Mildot Range Estimation, I would like to keep it as cheap as I can,

Looking at the Vortex recon, any others you guys like or would suggest?

I have a Vortex 5-15x44 mil mil scope on the rifle. Traditional mil dot scope. Should I just stick with that?

Thanks for the input!

I got to look through a Vortex Recon at a match, for the price/size/weight giant thumbs up.

Usually, if the spotter doesn't have more SOMETHING going for it than your rifle scope, skip it. If you are shooting with a spotter, it's a little different, or need to do target id without using your gun and don't have a laser.

No laser? Kill two birds with one stone.

The Vortex recon is a handy little monocular but as was said above, if your scope has more power then the monocular, you may find it doesn't suit your needs if you plan on using it as a dedicated spotter. For ranging and glassing an area quickly, its quite handy to have.

I have a Vortex Solo RT, and have used a Recon, the Solo is the best bang for the buck out there, using a monocular to range with is all but useless with out something to hold it steady, my vote is spotter on a quality tripod.
