Well...my friend Jason and I took off this morning to take down some dogs...before we got to were we were going to make our first stand we saw three yotes. Set up on our first stand and within 5 mins of starting the call we had one come in. It was a 125-150yrd. shot and I hit it towards he back end. He went down hard and then slowly walked away...I went after him but it was pretty brushy and was not able to find him. Kinda bummed about that. That is first blood for my gas piston AR.
Anyways...we hike about a mile or so and set up again...very steep hilly area...we thought we would not get anything. We were sitting in the open but in the shade of the oak trees on opposite sides of this small hill. I hit the call...not more then 30 sec., and a BIG yote comes busting out of a small drainage to my right not more then 30yrds away. I do not move...he stares at the call and then slowly trots down the hill...I am thinking he is circling around...he pops up on the other side of the hill about 125yrds out...I bark to try and get him to stop...not going for it. I shoot.......and miss <sigh>. But...on the other side of the hill I hear my buddy shoot...and he gets his dog!
So we start heading back and see some ground squirrels...Jason nails one at about 75 yrds.
As we are leaving we see two more out in the hills 400+ yrds out running away...and then we see another one! So 9 dogs total....good stuff!
