Anyone got any info on this rifle: 22 L-S Mossberg model 146 B-A? I got it from a very old friend. Got it in the early 80's covered in dust and dirt. Any info on time of Mfg or age would be greatly appreciated, also anyone that would have parts for the rear sight. It;s missing the elevation detent ball. Thanks in advance,

Re: Mossberg model 146 B-A

Glad to here you've got an old Mossberg, I've got a 144 LSA myself and use it for regular practice. As far as the history goes I saw a list once in an older Numrich catalog which gave the general time span various rifles were manufactured. If you can't find a serial number then it was made before 1964. for your issue with the rear sight, Numrich Lists the part and the detent balls as "Sold Out". If you still have one and can measure it you may be able to find a standard sized replacement.

Re: Mossberg model 146 B-A

Brownells sells detent balls starting at 1/16th inch and up. It may take some research but if you can get the diameter you good to go. Since mine was without irons when I acquired it I was able to use a Lyman front globe and a Redfield rear. My eyes don't like irons much anymore so its scoped again.

Thanks for all the help, I know what you mean with the eyes, I used to shoot High Power Rifle and loved it but wouldn't waste the ammo now. I found some IPB's today but none of them showed the detent balls. There's also some sights for sale on EBay but I don't do PayPal so I guess that won't work.

I thought about that but I think the bidding stops pretty soon or already has but I'll check again to make sure, thanks and happy shooting. Theres another one on Ebay also but doesn't look as good, it's there for another 5 days I think, maybe I'll get in touch with him and see if he will do a check or money order.
