Re: Motivational/Funny Stuff Thread
Here's an example of the sort of picture this thread should have, as per the OP.
If you want to look at soft-core gay porn and naked midgets, you do not have any sort of right or privilege to do it here, sir.
If such is your desire, I might suggest being less public about it unless you do not mind being known as the guy who wants to look at soft-core gay porn and naked midgets.
But if you enjoy looking at soft-core gay porn and naked midgets, there are outlets for that other than here.
You're wanting me to tolerate what amounts to the sort of depravity I am trying to extricate my mind from, and I am sure many people who would love to frequent this thread agree.
You, sir, want me to tolerate what I consider evil, and in effect, have no recourse away from that which is offensive to many.
As G.K. Chesterton said, "Tolerance is the virtue of a man without convictions."
I have convictions, and I do not force them on others. I have not asked for the other thread to be shut down. But what you suggest, though it personally offends me, is to ignore the very sort of organic growth in the "joke" section through the initiative of an individual who responded to a communal niche.
As the moral impetus to recognize this very obvious fact dictates the smooth running of the forum, and the clarity of its facets, and the contribution of people in whatever regard, we can see plainly the microcosmic repetition of a very typical human pattern: the toleration of evil; it has destroyed nations and lives alike. It has reduced mankind, habitually, to destruction of self. It's also what the Founding Fathers sought to keep from happening via instituting a system in which the people had the power to change things, but through a system. Unfortunately the codification of that system was flawed in its philosophical background.
You are promoting a sort of anarchistic moral structure, where morality is subject to man's interpretation, be it collective or individual, where the lowest standard rules. Aim high, bro.
Even the French degenerate himself, Voltaire, who was openly sexually attracted to his niece, stated that, "All sects differ, because they come from men; morality is everywhere the same because it comes from God."
Niccolo Machiavelli said, "Because just as good morals, if they are to be maintained, have need of laws, so the laws, if they are to be observed, have need of good morals."
Thomas Jefferson stated, "Is it less dishonest to do what is wrong because it is not expressly prohibited by written law? Let us hope our moral principles are not yet in that stage of degeneracy."
Philosopher Immanuel Kant reveals the reason of this nation's unhappiness, and why we think we deserve what we do not: "Morality is not really the doctrine of how to make ourselves happy but of how we are to be worthy of happiness."
