Maggie’s Motivational Pic Thread v2.0 - - New Rules - See Post #1

What is hard for most people to comprehend is that that attitude represented only the most elite units of the past. Current everyday conventional boring 'leg infantry' units exceed the PT levels and training levels of most Special Forces during the Vietnam War. They exceed both of those as well as IQ and educational levels of Waffen SS, WWII Rangers, WWII Airborne and British 'Commando' units during WWII. Their per-unit combat-functionality is essentially unmeasurable because it has to be compared to something and there's nothing comparable in industrial period combat history.

I agree with this assessment but as a former infantryman I read some of the French account and ask myself WTF? I don't recall one infantryman that didn't bitch and moan (myself included) have a morbid sense of humor or use the word Fuck like it was "the". I wonder is so much has changed in 20 years? I don't see it if it has, because I am around younger soldiers monthly and they seem basically the same, if not maybe more motivated to stay in than we were.

Something the Frogs don't see is a bunch of 25 year old with bad knees, bad backs, bad feet, etc. and maybe now more than ever before some unseen damage... That said all I know, to a man, myself included (non-combat vet) would do it again knowing the consequence. I think maybe that is the true American story.

I added non-combat vet as qualifier. I don't think of myself if the same manner as those who have been on a two way range.

Spiked heals are worse than golf-ball-sized hail on a car's finish. She got what she deserved.

NOTE: She's obviously never seen someone react after their car has been keyed or else she might have thought twice about wearing her heals during her monologue.

^^ what he wrote ;-)

Speaking as one who was in the Navy from 81-87 and served on submarines most of that... I read that part and I too went "huh?, maybe that was part of the language he didn't understand", it definitely didn't describe me, or those that were around me.

The Gift of Valor

Marine Staff Sgt. Percy J. Price leads his platoon on an operation in Da Nang, Vietnam in 1967. In 1960, Price defeated famed boxer Muhammad Ali, then-Cassius Clay, in the 1960 Olympic trials. A career Marine, Price remained in the Marine Corps instead of pursuing a professional boxing career. He went on to complete two tours in Vietnam. Photo: USMC
