A GW swam right under me years ago when I was doing SAR training off of Humboldt Bay, those fuckers are yuge!
Its fun to go out to the south jetty of Humboldt bay and watch the collage kids (surfer dudes) dress up like seals , then splash around. Every year a few come out with a big chunk of their surf board missing!

Didn't like to think about those things when I was surfing. There out there for sure.

I'll be up there in a couple of weeks. My wife grew up in Eureka and went to Humboldt State so she saw a thing or two.

The south jetty is sketchy on a calm day, downright terrifying with a winter swell rolling in from Japan. Fond memories of being scared AF!
