We're not stupid..... Jaws was filmed on Amity Island, and as you know, Amity means friendship.First, and FTR, I was a summer resident of Martha's Vineyard ever since I was age 6, up until the year 2007. I was there the summer they filmed "Jaws." I evolved with the Island. And, to be frank, I became disillusioned with that evolution. I haven't been there since 2007. And I won't be going back, at this point. The only thing I miss there is Giordano's Clam bar. I just have to figure out how to make "fried clams" like they did (and, hopefully, still do).
That said, I still have family that own property there. One of my cousins is retired there, permanently. Her parents (my Aunt/Uncle) are buried there. My point being, Martha's Vineyard is not as "bougi/rich/wealthy" as it's being made out to be. The majority of the permanent residents (and, frankly, most of the summer residents) there are middle & working class. Yes, there are some wealthy people on there, but they are very much in the minority. It's not like everyone up there rides around in a Lexus. But. because there are a couple of celebrities and retired Dem Presidents.....
The really "bougi/rich/wealthy" island with all the old money is the sister Island, Nantucket. And I mean OOOOOOLLLLLLLLD money! If they really wanted to make a statement, they should have brought the immigrants there. Maybe they will. I know a whole bunch of folks on Nantucket that are shivering in their boots, now.
I knew that was coming as soon as I saw the stupidly close range before the shot. Dumb shits were lucky they didn't catch some shrapnel. Unfortunately, youtube is full of dumb, irresponsible stunts like this.
And, as you should know, "Amity Island" is fictitious. Trust me, it was filmed on Martha's Vineyard. I know. I was there. Or, perhaps, you forgot the

" emoji above?The big ferry you see in the film bringing people to the island on the "festival weekend" (or whatever it was) was a real ferry, in service at the time. It was the "MV Islander." It was one of the fleet ships of the "Woods Hole, Martha's Vineyard & Nantucket Steamship Authority," and it ran the route between Woods Hole and Martha's Vineyard for more than 50 years. It took 45 min., one way, to run the route. It was the first "Motor Vessel" in the fleet. The others were all Steamships. Now, all the ferries in the fleet are Motor Vessels (Diesels).
Sadly, it was decommissioned in 2007 and sold for scrap. It was a big blow to the residents. They loved that vessel. It was, however, replaced with a more modern vessel, the "Island Home." As my late uncle described it, it was the "Islander on Steroids."
It is equipped with dual EMD engines and is a "double ender" (like the MV Islander) but, unlike it, it has direct drive, electric, double screws at each end (along with side thrusters at each corner). I rode it, round trip, on my very last visit to the Island in 2007.
As many times as the film crew kicked my dad out of his favorite fishing hole because they were shooting there that day? Yeah, Jaws was filmed on Martha's Vineyard.

Absolutely, they do. But they're careful to label it as such, so the intent can't be mistaken. Hence, my question about the
emoji.... So we should add a disclaimer to such posts to avoid confusing residents of the NE? Makes sense.
