I have an aunt who's a nun and spent 7 years on Kauai.I love Kauai and have another trip planned this year. Kauai is much smaller and less crazy than Ohau. It definitely has much more of a small town vibe and easy to get around (except for traffic, navigation is easy)
I plan on going to Maui and the big island at some point.

Very true. It will start off sunny, turn cloudy in minutes, rain, the sunny again. Rains almost every day mostly in the afternoons. Kauai is the wettest place on earth with more rainfall than anywhere else.I have an aunt who's a nun and spent 7 years on Kauai.
She said it was 80 every day, 70 every night. Also rained for about 20 minutes each day. Never been there myself.
This reminds me of my upcoming vacation trip to Norway
