Well, at the bottom you can see the Tokaido Shinkansen line, exactly where it should be. Tokyo prefecture would be a bit to the East and slightly North, though, from that view. The port of Yokohama would be directly East and closer.

Flying commercial into Narita one evening and the freshly pinned 2LT sitting next to me asked, What's with all the cars and why aren't they moving?" I told him the guy in front just graduated OCS.

That is Pebble Beach! I speared a nice 15 lb. ling cod about 200 offshore from this spot, at the pinnacles.
No shit? Small world. The pinnacles are great spear fishing! A bunch of us from language school took over the public beach parking and the beach at Pebble Beach during a pro golf event and hibachied our daily catch in the parking lot while strutting around like we owned the place. We sat in lawn chairs with women we just met on the beach in our laps and heckled the pros while the tv cameras tried to keep us out of their shots. Drove management nuts! By the third day he was begging us not to show up again. And by the third day word had gotten out and some truly stunning women showed up with not much on.

Amazon paid 3.7 billion in 21 and 6 billion in 22 in US income taxes. I just happened to be in their annual report for another reason. Page 42

All businesses that are profitable and which have net positive cash flow pay taxes. Not just income taxes but also property taxes and inventory taxes as well as match employee payroll taxes.

Taxes are just another expense like salaries. And if one goes up another must go down if you can’t raise prices or be more productive.
