In a situation where confusion occurs, one will merely has to say one word: "Templar". And the correct response to that will be "brother". The only pesky thing is that a real Muslim woman caught up in the action in the wrong time and place might freak out and panic and run off possibly to alert her guys. Let her go? Or the unpleasant but sometimes necessary deed in such situations...
ETA: I have the strangest feeling that if the madness over there continues, there will be quite a few incidents in the future where a UK cop or commanding officer going home from work will encounter several "Muslim women" on a dark street who seem to be lost and ask him/her for directions, and that will be the last time that cop would be seen alive again by anyone...
