How did you know this?
I met a guy shooting and we swapped numbers. The next time I’m on F book it asked if I knew the same guy.

If you haven't read, Jack Hinson's One Man War, I highly recommend it. My family served with the 4th and 5th Iowa Volunteers during the Civil War, I hope none of them were involved in this.

I had a great x3 grandfather named Jackson Hinson who fought in the Revolutionary War. He was a German merc. Some of his descendants/my ancestors fought in the Civil War. I hope they were involved.

Read it....

And enjoyed visiting 'Hinson Country' with the Mk 13 this spring.

Not even an hour from Ft. Campbell. Now called "The land between the Lakes" due to TVA dams... it used to be called "The Land Between the Rivers."

Many of Hinson's 'landmarks' are still around. There are guys selling maps.

Cheers,

Sirhr

It took some digging as I could not get a 'coordinate' on the Web. But my Droid Google Maps application found it and took us right to it. It's very obvious. About 10 minutes from a great public shooting range, too!

Cheers,

Sirhr

At the dawn of facebook, my kids got on and encouraged me to. My wife got an account and I took a look around and said no thanks. Just looking at some of the posts by people I knew through the climbing world told me that it was a change I didn't need to be a part of.

I'm happy to have never been part of that party.

In the last couple of days, Clicked on one of the Facebook attachments here, on my smartphone, and it added the originator of the fb post here to my contacts. Deleted....
And then, downloaded the lucky dog pic to move it over to the "I'm lucky" topic and it tried to open Samsung connect, wanted access to all my pics... denied.

Woman and I share a Verizon account. She has FB. it linked her contacts and mine..... still trying to figure that one out.
Wherever she goes, the Google maps thing, "rate your experience at xx", pops up on my phone. I asked her, wtf u do at xx, argument started over "me tracking her".... not, not, not.... goddamn phone updates, I don't want or need. I showed her it was the phone update and not me.

Latest android update on phone, Artificial Intelligence, is sending me emails "based on your browsing, Samsung thinks you would like xx.... "
Blocked their ass.

Just a few examples. Just a few, in the last week...

I had a llama 45 once
"Had" being keyword
Everybody else say "its a nice 45"
I say yea if you can kill them all with one round, cause the first round was the only guaranteed one you would get. Stovepipe sally went by the way of trade in at a pawn shop. Good riddence. I opted for a browning hi power and have never had a problem. Never a jam or stovepipe.

It's because you pronounced it Lama not Yama. It was punishing you. ?

Actually it was a sweetener in a trade deal. I see why the guy threw it in. Growing up my dad cocollected firearms and most were world war 2 pistols. We had 3 colts,a remington rand , a union switch and signal, ithica. along with nambu's and p38's and lugers from the axis side. He would buy ammo cans full of ball ammo 45 at gun shows and on Sunday evenings the remington and ithica would get the hell shot out of them. ( they were the worst for wear and he figured we couldn't hurt them) loved those days of shooting with the old man. I probably knew more about 1911's and 1911A1's as a teenager than most grown men. Although the lama or " yama" as you called it, that must translate into "piece of shit" in their language.

Did you offer him less when he added in this "sweetener"? You claim to know more about 1911s than grown men, yet you accepted it in trade then complained about it's performance on the internets.

Honestly, I'm kinda confused.

He called it "yama" because llama is pronounced "yama." Aside from being an animal native to the Andes, it means "flame," in Spanish.

My vote for political power mop champion goes to Russian politician Valentina Petrenko, easily beating out Donald Trump, Kim Jong Un, and Boris Johnson. The scalloped edges of this sophisticated post-modern trapezoid give her the overall appearance of a canned ham dipped in caviar then run over with a Lada.

Rumor has it that during a particularly fierce uber-dominatrix session in the back room of a Black Sea hostel she castrated Robert DeNiro while performing her whirling Dervish moves on his scrotum with a pair of jewel encrusted high heels while post-Soviet death metal screeched through Brezhnev era loudspeakers.

Has anyone even thought of what the Beaver Trail Weaved Outta Steel Wool must look like? Anyone?

Funny thing is, I was cracking up my guys at CPR training the other day with some pretty good "Dummy" play and some great comments. Had them gasping. The instructor was one of our Detectives who's a helluva guy. Thought he was gonna shut me down, but instead when I grabbed the Dummy's he gave me the look, so I just took one quick shot. Not gonna post it cuz it could be misconstrued. Fun was had by all.

Jack Hinson Grave.jpg

Tiger Force Veterans at Jack Hinson's Grave. There is no real evidence that Mr Hinson actually was a Captain in the Confederate Forces, that I could find, and the book cited in the OP doesn't actually say that he was, but locally it is pretty strong tradition ("fightin' words" strong), so we offered no argument. The actual rifle is owned by a judge in another county nearby, and next time I visit with my friend who lives near Ft Campbell, we will make the trek down there to examine the weapon.
Near this site, is a small privately owned museum dedicated to the local events of the War of Northern Aggression, and to Jack Hinson's history.
Jack was hunted during his offensive, but never caught, and lived out his life.
Documented 1,000 yard shots from a bluff high above the river, open sights, center punching Union Officers. Caused quite a stir.
A real man.

Wait, Glock's factory in Smyrna, GA is staffed by socialists?

I did no know that.

http://smallarmssolutions.com/home/glock-austria-vs-glock-usa-made-pistols

"The answer in quality difference between the two is quite simple. Absolutely nothing! There are many reasons for this. The Glock USA pistols have American made frame, slide and barrel. The rest of the components come from Austria. All materials for manufacturing the frame, slide and barrels come from Austria and shipped to the US facility. There are no material procurements in the US. Glock Austria keeps 100% quality control of every aspect of production.

Another interesting note, Glock manufactures in-house every single component of the pistol down to springs and pins. All tooling, molds, fixtures, gauging, etc is manufactured in-house in Austria. This allows Glock a unique opportunity most US manufacturers do not exercise. Most US gun manufacturers manufacture certain components in-house but subcontract out others. They may also send parts outside to get heat treated, finish or any other coatings. Whereas, Glock has 100% control.

As far as process in manufacturing in the US, it is absolutely identical. All CNC machines come from Austria and have been programmed by the same people who do it in Austria. Even the concrete floors in the US facility are identical to the Austrian plant. The US hammer forge barrel machines also come from Austria. The mold machines manufacture both frames as well as the polymer Glock gun cases the pistols are received in. Those cases would be too expensive and bulky to ship from Austria. To assure ability to produce without interruption, Glock USA keeps one year worth of production materials (steel, polymer manufacturing materials and so on) on hand.

The guns production capacity of US made guns were up to 10,000 per week (3 shifts running 7 days a week). The Austrian made guns come disassembled and are assembled and test fired in the US facility. Glock USA has about 25% of the production capability as the Austrian plant. The American facility employs over 400 people. As of December of 2017, The American Glock plant is running at 65% capacity with their most popular model being the Glock 19."

For those who take training classes....

My observation over many classes and many years....
It’s the DA guys who shoot their legs more often then Glock Leg

Glocks and Glock clones- (xd’s) are not the guns that break

It is the mighty 1911 that shits the bed
Lots of 1911 magazines also shit the bed
Glocks that have aftermarket crap parts fail- wiz bang aftermarket triggers and Korean mags

Stock Glocks run....

I took a series of classes and went over 5k in my Glock 22 without a cleaning. I would add 5 drops of oil every day or two

It just ran

I never stated they were junk. But they do NOT have any soul. Life's too short to carry an ugly gun.

Says the guy who carries an LCP. ?

The December after we moved into this house (15 years ago) we had our Christmas decorations out in the yard. We go to leave for work and all the deer are in sexual positions. Wife was not impressed. Pretty sure it was the previous owners kids (long long story there). I was laughing, if they were not such fucking jack asses i would actually thank them. It cut down on my work at Christmas a ton. Next to no decorations from then on out.
