Thanks @Jefe's Dope and others for nudging this thread back in the right direction.

But the terrible price that he pays ...

It has been a decade or more (will see if I can dig up the story) but a local range had a incident like that except when the brass went down her shirt she started jumping around waving the gun and ended up shooting her boyfriend in the head DRT.

This goes to show that there entirely is such a thing as "too much gun". Whenever I teach someone new shooting for the first time, I make sure to use nothing except pipsqueak loads. And in revolvers too. There is nothing that will frighten away a newbie more than inducing them to shit their pants when they pull a trigger.

There is a video posted a while back that showed some douchebag making his unsuspecting girlfriend fire off a regular load in a .500 S&W Mag just for shits and giggles. I was not laughing. At all. If you are curious. That kind of nonsense gives us gunnies a bad name.

I believe the "grey man" is the better way to go around in public. But, if a man pays attention to his surroundings, he can usually get a pretty good idea of the type of people that are most likely armed. Stand up straight, look forward, not at the ground, don't look like food, and you won't get eaten.

Nice reference to the "grey man". I was first introduced to this term on Sipsey Street Irregulars and Dave Codrea's blog. That is VERY sound and accurate advice for surviving on today's streets. Those who remember a particular phase when street thugs were playing the "knock out game" against unsuspecting passerby should also remember the advice that was given to avoid being a target: Be confident, yet not overtly aggressive. And keep your head and eyes moving and observing. Never look at the ground or at a mobile device. Having even the best defensive handgun on you won't mean shit if you cannot spot an incoming threat on time.

Is reading a newspaper on the subway okay?

I've ridden subways in the past. Never read anything on board. I am not paranoid but I rather get to my destination safely. I got a family to support. I never stand anywhere close to the platform edge either. I like to know what the heck is going on around me at all times.

Why are certain people trying so hard to ruin the MPT 2.0 with discussions and information?

Motivational: Anything that inspires people to do great things. Information and advice falls into that category. I mean, we are not talking about how to stick objects in certain bodily orifices are we? Or doom and gloom shit :ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO:

Educational and historical stuff, especially gun stuff motivates the hell outta me and many folks here.

Here is true motivational :)

Guy with just a 9mm revolver shows up to 1,000 yard rifle range:

Rifle guy: "LMAO dude all ya got is a little pistol. Whatcha doin' here?"

Revolver guy: "Watch this buddy"...

I realize who that is and that any hit on the steel will pop the balloon with spall -- and I just watched it with my own eyes -- but I still don't believe he did it on the second shot.

Does your wife have any guns of her own? If so, will she go shooting with me?

I promise you that I won't touch your rifle since you have already run your cleaning rod down its barrel.

Technically they're all her guns. ;)

She did a two gun comp with me in November. She's better than me. And she cooks real good.

A pretty cool photo of the Trojan power plant with Mt. St Helens erupting in the background.View attachment 6993561

Me and a buddy wear coming back to Portland from Seattle latter that morning after it popped and atomized 3000 Ft. of earth off the top . Drove Up I-5 And I 'watched that live' . It was clear bright sunny out and I got to say that watching the super slow rising Mushroom cloud off St. Helen is still in the top 10 list of BadAss things seen in my life .
