Since masters degree is keeping me from one of my 5,000 mile motorcycle rides this year... this motivates the hell out of me right now:
Worth every minute of the watch...
12 months to go... 12 months to go...
Cheers,
Sirhr
Dude, freaking Awesome! Just dusted off the 1200GS last week.![]()
Now 8.5 months to go.... less if I get my thesis done sooner.
Already planning 2014 trip... Right now trying to scope out the possibility of going over to Europe again and riding the route of The Band of Brothers through Europe. It's a well-established route and very popular with fans of the miniseries. My GS Dakar is safe and sound with a friend in Germany right now. I want one more long ride over there before I ship it back home. Or to New Zealand. Because the price is about the same ;-)
2014 is the 70th anniversary of D-Day. Would be neat to start in Normandy on June 6...
Cheers,
Sirhr
If you have time and a couple of K$$$:
[h=3]10 DAYS[/h]Victoria, Tasmania & NSW: Join in on a ride with the real life adventurer, Charley Boorman as he explores south eastern Australia
Tasmania and the High Country | Compass Expeditions
My friend Mark who has ridden in NZ said that Tasmania is THE place.
That said, while I love Charlie Boorman's bike travelogues, I can't get past his first movie role... cast by his own dad, the director of Deliverance. How cold is it that you cast your own kid as the Banjo retard?

That said, Long Way Down and Long Way Round are highly motivational when stuck in the snowbelt in Feb...
Cheers,
Sirhr
(PS Back on track in a moment. Sorry for temporary thread hijack.)
WTFFF! NO, thats not Charlie is it? I do know the Boorman cast him in Excalibur as the young Mordred.
Naaaa really!!! LOL
Anyhow that Tasmania thing looks awesome!
No. That was Billy Redden.
this motivated me yesterday: beartooth mountains between Wyoming and montana
New meaning for the word, "towelhead"...
