Maggie’s Motivational Pic Thread v2.0 - - New Rules - See Post #1

Stunning! Where is this?
Mount Mistake, south east QLD. Unique spot, the vegetation behind this pic is completely different, once you get up the escarpment there is water everywhere, grass is waist height and there is thick green eucalypt forest. Looks nothing like the almost-moonscape dry area surrounding.

That tools for pussies is what it is
We had a SSgt (E-5) working at about 75' on a tower during a project, I was a SrA (E-4) at the time. SSgt Duder needed to move from one tower leg over to another, so he takes his positioning strap off the leg he had been working at, and proceeded to walk across a horizontal beam to the other leg...nothing to hold on to. Someone on the ground yells up, "GET BELTED BACK IN". SSgt Duder yells down, "FUCK OFF"...and proceeds to the other leg. He was quickly ordered to the ground. Dude that yelled up the tower was the Base Chief of Safety, Col (O-6). SSgt Duder got sent home...and a couple weeks later became SrA Duder. About a month after that we get sent out on another project (TDY), Super decides I'm the Team Chief for that, since I wasn't a dumb ass, and now out ranked Duder. They gave him one chance to test for promotion, he didn't make it, and got kicked out High Year Tenure (14 years)...idiot.

Sure. Everyone where I work seems to think they want to come work in our department, until they find out we climb towers.
You climb?
I did tower lighting for flash technology. Generally speaking, our work started at 300’ and was primarily at night. Also stacked plenty of towers, guyed, monopole and self support, for wireless communications. Last tower I was on was a 1000’ in Cincinnati replacing the beacon on a double stacked broadcast antenna. I’ve been 2000’ +/- multiple times but, it’s been a hot minute.

Anyway, that tool is for beating in the bull pin to line up bolt holes. 😏

I’ve climbed small stuff since I was a teenager, jumped from airplanes for a living, rappelled from helicopters and off static walls. I was the unit rappel master and ran out tower for 3-1/2 years.
