The insurance company was supposed to put us in a furnished rental house, they didn't. Hardly any work has actually been done for the rebuild of our house. Electricians and plumbers were supposed to start 3+ weeks ago, as of Monday I went to the house to see what kind of progress had been done. It looked like about 2 hours of electrical work...that might be stretching it...on my estimate. How much longer till your place is fixed? I figured you were in a rental house
A few years ago I subcontracted for a contractor that did insurance work. Because of the building boom he had a difficult time finding subs in all of the building trades. No one had the time or man power to do his jobs. They were too busy with the contractors that were giving them year round work. The insurance company was supposed to put us in a furnished rental house, they didn't. Supposedly the "wheels are turning" and big progress is going to be happening soon. Not holding my breath. If we're back in the house by Independence Day I'll be surprised.
That's a lot of fish. You only cook one at a time?
We got our smoker from home depot. But I agree on the alder chips. We get ours straight from the trees. Gotta trim the bark off though otherwise you get get a bitter taste.

Is the hang up the code upgrades, engineering plans and permits?
I just had a thought. Wouldn’t we all be happier if we didn’t take everything as racism? What if we changed our attitude and took all “racist” things and looked at them as terms of endearment? Shouldn’t we celebrate and be proud of our cultural and racial differences? After all, variety is the spice of life.

@DarnYankeeUSMC What's the situation like in the trades these days? I inherited a house build project that my cousin was doing in 2021. He got the foundation done, before he died. At the time, I reached out to 6 or 7 generals to finish the build. Got zero bids.A few years ago I subcontracted for a contractor that did insurance work. A person that was building their own house was shit out of luck for any tradesman. No way was I going to get involved with someone that couldn't keep a schedule and trying to work around other unfamiliar tradesman.
Edit: I would be burning the ears off of my insurance agent and up the chain.
That's a lot of fish.
Maybe you own a store or a restaurant and sell commercially.
My compliments to you sirNo to the restaurant. But live in a coastal fishing town with wife, 3 boys, a father, 3 brothers and we all fish. So we usually do a few batches a year to can and freeze.

That’s exactly correct. Once upon a time it was perfectly fine to be happy with who you are and even make fun of the differences between peoples. The turning of tolerance into intolerance is one of those things done to create friction where there was none and divide us as a country. It has succeeded remarkably well.I just had a thought.
