Once had an old homeless vet (USMC 2/7) sneaking out of the ER.

Told me once he was functional after he got home in ‘72 until the late 80’s and had been homeless since.

Yeah you won't see any Norman Rockwell paintings about that father son bonding moment. I was 9 or 10 and was rescued via scissors and cutting plies. Looking back I would say it wasn't that bad, but no amount is "not bad".
