Awesome Pics , brings up memories. My wife had passed away in 2014 and after things settled down some , needed to decompress . Bought a new Tacoma and went on a road trip by myself. Didn’t have a clue where really , didn’t care.
Knew about Chaco , I was born in NM. But never there. I was the only person there for 2 days. Didn’t hear a word from anyone ! It BLEW me away every which way ! I’ve seen some fantastic stars at sea , BUT , the night sky there was spiritual/cosmic , shooting stars that I felt like I could touch. Never had a place touch me that way.
How they built , how they worked and lived still has me baffled ? I slept awesome…..until 0400 the first night and a lone coyote told me time to rise 😖 Never run as far as I did , and turn around and see my truck in the distance 😳 Always will be a healing place to me. Well worth the solitude.
When I left , said I’d be back. Went to Four Corners watched a beautiful sunrise, no one there , so I Ran ….from New Mexico to Colorado , W to Utah , down to Arizona,
then back to New Mexico….over and over !! 😉
Then Colorado , Million Dollar Highway from Durango N , then Moab Utah , Ran , rode my Mt Bike , drove Lots , broke the Taco in ! Back into Colorado , Black Canyon 👍
Awesome trip , spent almost a month either camping or hitting a Motel for a Hollywood shower every couple days. Met some great , odd , weird , Dinky Dau crazys
Meandered back to life again. Only time in my life that I had O idea what the next day would be , sorta 🇺🇸

Make fun of you want but look at the backpack and boots.

Most people have no idea how shitty gear was until 1995 or so.
I’m not laughing. That brings back great memories. Started hiking about 1976 in the Scouts. I have also done the first 250 miles of the AT, and went right through where you are standing. Beautiful country.
