Reminds me of what I saw just a day ago on the interstate. Guy coming up at somewhere around 90 on a bike. Approaches some cars going less than that and pulls a wheelie at speed for a good bit. He then blows by traffic and immediately exits, going once again wheelie as he passed a car.

I give him style points and bonus man points, but wish him luck for the one time someone’s not paying attention or is a real asshole and pulls into his lane as he’s up.

We liked it there. Enough to stay and get a civil service job after I went out on a medical.

The family and I spent 34 years there (though I geo-bached it a bit at Camp Pendleton or deployments) before retiring and heading to rural AZ.

Cost of living was CHEAP compared to the rest of CA. In a couple hours we could be at the beach, the mountains, Las Vegas, the River or Mexico, Head out to BLM land and go shooting and there was tons of 4wheeling. All without having to deal with the urban cesspools and their diversity. A murder in 29 was BIG news as opposed to just a quiet day in the rest of SoCal.

My daughter and son in law are there (29 Palms) right now.... hating every minute of it. Will see them there day after tomorrow. And hate every minute of it.

My friend's son is a Capt who just asked to get reassigned BACK to 29 after already doing a tour there. He is married and both his kids were born in 29. My friend was stationed in 29 as a Marine as well and loved it.
