The pilot ejected from the F-35, was recovered and taken to the hospital. Most planes don’t fly a long way after an ejection. They likely knew the general area of the crash but were looking for debris for confirmation. Sensitive technology and all.

They are saying the wreckage/ debris was found 2 hrs northeast of Charleston. If they’re talking jet flying time that’s well outside of land based radar coverage, stealthy or not.

You guys are forgetting two things…

2) The Marine variant is a VTOL aircraft… I can think of several Harrier based accidents where the aircraft kept almost floating away. Unlikely, but with crayon eaters…. Anything is possible.



(Totally kidding, but, he could have suffered a health emergency, systems failure, anything and the aircraft could have kept going… especially if it was on a ballistic trajectory going up at an angle… just not enough to be caught by radar from the front. That particular version of the F35 has auto-eject, so? I dunno

The F-35B Can Eject Its Pilot Automatically

Only the F-35B variant has an auto-eject system, a feature that is tied to its ability to hover in mid-air.
