I don't recall what the coating was called right now (something lame sounding, I remember that much) and it didn't last worth a shit.....but they used it that way for like 20 years.

It's ceramic spray in shit.
Its nickel plating. Works good on two cycle engines.
BMW tried Nikasil for a while. They changed to Alusil afterwards. Alusil is another form of unlined aluminum block, but it seems to actually work.

And COMICALLY oversized too. Almost like those anime swords and other weapons of ludicrous dimensions that are in those sci fi kids cartoons. Imagine a contractor company having to drive around an additional specialized charging/storage rack to have a whole arsenal of these things to be rotated around throughout a single work shift and on top of that, get performance that is anemic at best.
