It's atmosphere. Very common here in the Lowcountry of South Carolina.
In like 8th Grade, I had a girl two years older than me on my bus route....that had a hole blown threw her foot while riding in the middle bench seat of her dad's truck with a loaded rifle. Took a couple toes as well. She brought pictures but wouldn't show anyone her actual foot. Was a 30/06.
A year later her older brother who was a Senior in high school. Put his foot into his cowboy boot and got bitten by a brown recluse spider. He went like a day without going to the hospital. They had to skin graph entire sections from his back to replace meat/skin that was ate away. The bite was on his calf or ankle. And by the next day ate away all the way up to his ass or some crazy shit. We never saw him again. He never came back to school. I dumb fucked upon his Facebook profile a while back.
I almost did this with a SAW in Italy. I was more worried about the squad leader noticing.
