Dat gotta be Kuwaiti oil fields .
Spent the night sleeping in the driver's seat of our hummer facing the oil fields. Woke up every couple 15 minutes or so to see an ever-increasing number of fires off in the distance as the Iraqis were blowing up the wells. Come morning, wind was pushing a wall of oil smoke across the horizon from ground level up to the clouds. Moved up into that shit and you couldn't see the vehicle ahead of you. Still have some chocolate-chip cammies somewhere with speckles of that oil on them.
