It is not the worst idea.
For the sake of science, when we were overhauling houses after structure fires, I'd open the fridge doors. Kitchens charred from ceiling to floor, and everything inside the fridge was unscathed. The insulation works both ways (to a point).
That's right. A homeowner asked me to get some pre filled baby bottles out of the fridge once. They were standing in the front yard and the baby was needing to eat. The kitchen was trashed but everything in the fridge was fine.
