I think of it as the pop-off valve on a 250 gallon (or larger) home propane tank. In 21 years, I have been to only one structure fire where the tank was close enough to the fully involved house that it go so hot from radiant heat, that the valve opened, and immediately the propane lit. Talk about pucker factor, and "oh shit" being said by all. But, we had to remind ourselves that the burning propane was safer than an accumulation of unlit propane, to later ignite in a massive fireball. "Hey get a line on that tank and cool it off, fuck this house, let's try not to die!" Cooled the tank, valve closed back off.
But, I'm no expert on oil well fires, that is a whole other specialty.

The trick is to ask permission in an endearing way. You say, "excuse me, but would you be offended if I gave you a slightly lewd compliment?"
If she says "fuck off" right there, then you have your answer. But if she says "no" then you say something like "Your breasts are truly spectacular".
I have used both the breast comment and the ass comment successfully, though the ass one is more universal. The breast one is really going balls out.
