Avenger and RV6, all survived according to the NTSB accident report. What plane?
Sorry about that, I'm looking at post 68087.Avenger and RV6, all survived according to the NTSB accident report.
Having a bad day down here, miss read the report, saw that both pilots and the passenger in the Avenger survived...That TBF contact incident, at Oshkosh, resulted in a passenger fatality....Most USN WWII single engine aircraft have crap pilot visibility on the ground.

6mm's, but they swore they were 6.5's.
Not so much a load issue as the driver not pulling forward as he dumped the load. Once the gravel plies up that cylinder was effectively pushing against a solid surface. That's why you see dump trucks creeping forward when they off load.I wonder what the hell that load weighed?

Hydraulics are dangerous for sure. Glad you survived! I've seen the results of an ejector cylinder fail (the style that cross.) on one side, pusher bound (while the other cheerfully applied 75 tons of pushing force), and the box split open like a can of biscuits had popped!I was dumping a garbage truck when the right side dump cylinder came apart. The threads on the gland pushed out. The right side came down so fast it bent the frame. Beat me up too!
I despise Heil cylinders! They are the epitome of "Pain the fucking ass to work on!" .Thank you! The shitty part is the company did not scrape the truck. Volvo cab over and Heile bed. I was back in it in a week.
