Maybe I don't know what I'm missing.Next, if there is a next, (I can hear “what’s he sayin’ “IF” for, good God, man, there is always a “next”), it will surely be a double stack, I love my 1911 45’s , been side eyeing the STI Staccato P2. Who knows.
I picked up a Staccato P a few months ago. My Springfield TRP is not in the same class of firearm IMO.

ArmaLite first developed the AR-15 in the late 1950s as a military rifle, but had limited success in selling it. In 1959 the company sold the design to Colt.
In 1963, the U.S. military selected Colt to manufacture the automatic rifle that soon became standard issue for U.S. troops in the Vietnam War. It was known as the M-16.
Armed with that success, Colt ramped up production of a semiautomatic version of the M-16 that it sold to law enforcement and the public, marketed as the AR-15.
When Colt's patents for the AR-15 expired in the 1970s, other manufacturers began making similar models.

I don’t know if I’m missing anything either, it does sound like it when I watch some reaction vids and stuff. I think Springfields have a solid rep and are fine, I was considering a TRP strongly when I started looking

I was working security at big outdoor concert in 1979/1980 (?) and we walked the parking lots at night with the Sheriffs, lots of drugs on the scene. Well the concert weekend that featured him had drugs 10x in the lots. Seeing how messed up all the other acts were I was expecting him to be DOA. My job was escorting the bands to the stage or from the helicopter pad and hanging back stage with them. When we went to get Ted I was unprepared for what I saw. He jumped out and extended his hand, I was a little a shocked. He was talking to us like we were good buddies. Finally I told him that I thought he would be all drugged out and he said never touch the stuff, I'm high on life.
I was in awe of him and his energy and how well spoken he was. Met him at the SHOT one year and he said glad to meet you and I told him that I met him before and still thought he was the man.
Not sure I would believe anything negative I read about him, not like the far left wouldn't want to burn him or have it verified in snopes.
CNN would call him a soldier.

After my retirement from the U.S. Army I became an IT consultant to a large firm. While on contract to the U.S. Navy I once addressed a Marine Sergeant (E5) as "Sarge." After a polite, respectable discussion, followed by my apology, I never made that mistake again. I returned to my quarters and refreshed my knowledge of the various enlisted ranks of all military services and proper forms of address.
Like the difference between Gunnery Sgt. and Gunny. Until it's OK it's not.

Shooting Advice
Some words to the wise. Shooting Advice from various Concealed Carry Instructors. If you own a gun, you will appreciate this. If not, you should get one and learn how to use it:
A: Guns have only two enemies: rust and politicians.
B: Its always better to be judged by 12 than carried by 6.
C: Cops carry guns to protect themselves, not you.
D: Never let someone or something that threatens you get inside arms length.
E: Never say "I've got a gun." If you need to use deadly force, the first sound they hear should be the safety clicking off. (I prefer the sound of a round being chambered when you load a shotgun)
F: The average response time of a 911 call is 23 minutes, the response time of a .357 is 1400 feet per second.
G: The most important rule in a gunfight is: Always win - cheat if necessary.
H: Make your attacker advance through a wall of bullets . . . You may get killed with your own gun, but he'll have to beat you to death with it, cause it'll be empty.
If you're in a gun fight:
1. If you're not shooting, you should be loading.
2. If you're not loading, you should be moving,
3. If you're not moving', you're dead.
J: In a life and death situation, do something . . . It may be wrong, but do something!
K: If you carry a gun, people call you paranoid. Nonsense! If you have a gun, what do you have to be paranoid about? (I call it being prepared)
L: You can say 'stop' or 'alto' or any other word, but a large bore muzzle pointed at someone's head is pretty much a universal language. AMEN!
M: You cannot save the planet, but you may be able to save yourself and your family.
