True story all true, barely scratching out a living and still being better off than living in a city. And the work never ends, always something needs fixing, but still better than living in a city. The isolation, still better than living in a city.
You nailed it. as an example I have neighbors in their 80s who still put in a full days work one on a tractor all day and the other at age 87 digging fence post holes, and that’s hard work at any age. Our local cemeteries have many headstones with ages noted over 100. You can always tell the locals from the tourist because the locals wave at each other while passing on Back Roads.
