2017 Discovery Sport HSE. Aside from the normal dealership BS, it's been pretty reliable, and has done well off road (a rarity in these parts of San Diego to see one of these offroad; the mechanics were all smiles when I took it in, covered in Montana mud).

ETA: My one disappointment is the UV coatings on some of the plastic trim parts suck (and aren't covered under warranty). Already replaced both back pillar covers. Dealer tried to charge me (get this) $420...each, and then I pulled up a LR website in the US selling them for $62 a pop. Fuckers. The badges are toast as well. But mechanically, she's held up well.

I've been looking into buying one here, the older models are holding their value way more than they should. The Defenders as well, but I guess that's because the new model looks like shit.

Yeah, they keep asking me if I'll sell mine back to the dealership for a price break on a new one (or the new Defender here). They're hugely popular here (the Discovery Sports); hell, I bought mine, and within 6 months, two of the neighbors went and bought theirs.

Not sure what I'll do, it's almost paid off, so I kinda like not having a car payment (not that I do anything with the spare cash, except put it in the bank for whenever I decide I want/need a new car).

Some of the 2016 Defender models are going for $80k here, with a bucketload of kms on the clock. I ended up buying the wife a prado instead and will just get a ute now I think. The new discovery is not worth the $$$ here

I think mine sold for $52k (before I lumped in the extended maintenance and warranty). The new Defenders are running around $62k here, if they can be had. Apparently the entire first year's supply was sold before they even got in the country...we haven't had Defenders here in decades, and they (the classics) have a huge following...

That's pretty nuts. i think we had the diesels sell out quick. There are heaps of 110s for cheap here after the army sold most of them off. After remembering how we drove them, I'd probably avoid buying one...

Changed just before I made Senior. Was called Chief a lot.

So I spent a fair amount of time around the Marine Corps… And while I would never disparage another service, it was amazing how often somebody in the Marine Corps couldn’t tell what my rank was when I had three stripes (SRA).

I got called Sergeant all the time…

And the important thing is never to say that you’re a sergeant but also to never correct them. Heh.

Of course being a senior master sergeant a big deal so you might feel the need to correct them but I have some fun.
