Almost identical true story from 1979 when new engineers were in very high demand: An (asshole by his own definition) coworker John, used to brag about how he ran his salary offers by pitting one offering manager against.
John allowed he knew when to stop when he pissed off one of the managers, Frank Marshall in particular with whom they ‘shared words’.
Guess who they hire as our new boss 6 months later?
Yep, Frank Marshall. Frank comes in to the morning 830 meeting and introduces himself, shakes everyone’s hand and tells John “It’s a small world John.” 10 minutes later John gets a call from HR. His service are no longer needed.
Yep, Karma can be a bitch.
