As an old warrior, this has been one of my all time favorite songs for many years. So glad these guys did it... and they did it well. Thank you. Thank you so much. Memories are leaking out of my eyes, and running down my cheeks.... I'm home, and I'm "home free". Please God we can stay that way.

That's it, I'm done. Time for bed.

I first heard the song (in earnest) when it was used to close the 2nd season of the TV Series, "The West Wing" The scene is where Jed Bartlett has made the decision to run again, after all of his revelation that he had MS and didn't tell the public. You can hear it begin at the close of this scene (I can't find the scene that shows the whole thing).

Say what you will about the show and its political bent, (and I could say plenty), but you can't deny it was very well written and entertaining. In fact, one of the very best speeches by a "Republican/Conservative" in the show was about the 2A and guns.... IT's so true!

WHat drillship you on? Im on the West Neptune
What a coincidence I am on the West Neptune as well. :))

Perhaps I can appease the thread monitors with some pics.
The first pic was taken of the DWH from the deck of a workboat. This will give an idea of how high off the water the lifeboats were. I want to say about 50 feet high but don't remember for sure

2nd pic shows how high the waves were during hurricane Ike 9-10-08. Lifeboats are to the right side of the pic. The highest handrails in the background are on the main/top deck level. As with all Dynamically Positioned (unmoored) rigs we did not evacuate for storms.

Another view for perspective.

I did 8 years on the Nautilus, I believe they ballasted down during storms and the bottom of the rig was around 60 foot off the water.
