Any predictions for today's race at Assen? I imagine there are a few Spies fans out there hoping for him to convert a result!?

I think Stoner, Lorenzo and Simoncelli will battle it out with Spies and Dovvi following on.

Re: Moto GP

I am liking Simoncelli more and more as time goes on. Of course I am a fan on any American in the field and was happy as hell when Nicky won a title but he aint shown up since. Damn australians are taking over anything on two wheels. I think Ben Spies will be something to mess with here in the next couple seasons, dude is fast as hell and just needs to get a little more comfortable on the bike and learn the tracks. After that they can hang it up!!

Re: Moto GP

I'm with you on Simoncelli - love the way he's upset the rest of the riders!
I admire Stoner but he's certainly not the most likeable of personalities.... Colin Edwards is easily the most entertaining and I'd like to see him and Cal Crutchlow be up there with top riders and compete. WTF's up with Rossi!! Hope he gets his act together for Italy next week.

Re: Moto GP

Weather pending, my guess is Stoner someplace on the podium for sure and would like to see Spies & Nicky but there are plenty of riders that can wiggle their way into it. I'm not a huge Lorenzo fan but I can easily see Dovi jumping up to the podium.

So how many Cal fans we have here. Seeing he is the lone Brit until Bradley Smith moves his way up.

If the weather is poor I can see Nicky being there easily as he's a good rain rider as is Edwards.

I had the pleasure of meeting Colin and Casey (along with others) at an NYRRSC event but that was several years ago. Back when Casey first made the jump to the premier class on Honda and Colin was still a factory rider.

I really miss watching all the races when living in Harrogate. I got to know Mike "Spike" Edwards quite well when there too, he's one cool guy and a hell of a racer!!!

Massive fan! Brits have not had much to cheer on at all in recent years. Huge effort from Cal and Col to come back from shattered collar bones and be competitive too. Really hope Bradders does well in the Moto2 race...

Re: Moto GP

Love MotoGP but I have to admit that I lost a little interest when they went away from the two stoke motors. The 500cc two strokes were just angrier and awesome. I understand that the new bikes are faster but I just like the sounds of a field of two strokes.

Re: Moto GP

Assen just isn't the same since they changed the track.

Re: Moto GP

Any predictions on tomorrows race? Will Simoncelli finally get a result? As always I'm rooting for Cal C and Colin E to go well.

On the subject of the current format of the premier class I don't think anyone will be sad to see the back of the 800cc's. Am very much looking forward to next years larger grid with the 1000's....

Re: Moto GP

Spies is definately getting wound up, look forward to watching him the next couple years. I think Hayden and Rossi are still trying to get that Ducati in shape, they seem to be having problems keeping the front end planted. I bet the Ducati techs get them dialed in soon though. If Colin could ever get just a little more bike...............

okie

Re: Moto GP

Awesome racing through the first half of the distance. Rossi did not look good in practice/qualifying this weekend. Goes to show that Stoner is a hell of a rider to be able to win on that chassis

Re: Moto GP

Any of you guys off to the brickyard this weekend? Should be a good race hopefully. Am waiting to see if Rossi has finally found something with the new bike and of course supporting Cal and Col...

Re: Moto GP

I like Dovizioso and Pedrosa. Stoner, I guess. Hey, it's Repsol Honda, and I have a Honda...so there's my bias.

Dislike Simoncelli, he's reckless and pushes far too hard, causes wrecks and gets people hurt. It's no surprise the other riders don't like him...losing a few races to injury downtime can translate to not being able to go for the championship and a wasted season. An injury has serious opportunity costs to the team, and in a bad enough wreck, you risk losing your career or your life to serious injury. Simoncelli doesn't finish well often, and when he does, points deductions for bad riding are gonna cost him. Cutting off another racer by rocketing ahead on the entrance to a corner, then slamming on the brakes late in the corner and dropping inside...bumping or forcing the other guy off the road is not good GP racing.

Lorenzo has talent, but I'm not a big Yamaha fan. Ben Spies you gotta like if only because he's American and can practically slide/drift his bike all the way through a corner.

Rossi has serious talent, but that Ducati is a ride-killer. It's too stiff to get a feel for the track, and the Hondas and Yamahas corner so much better that as good as he is, he can't keep up, because he is fighting the Ducati the whole way. He should go back to Yamaha, or Honda...or heck, even ride a Kawasaki until Ducati figures out how to make a race bike. "Italian" doesn't always mean "the best" just because...although on the road around here you find plenty of barely-licensed Ducati riders with more money than sense...or skill. They are nice, although not really comfortable streetbikes, but they need some fine tuning to dominate racing again.

Re: Moto GP

Nice pics! Yeah Mr Spies is definitely on one this weekend! Lets see if he can hold Stoner and co off today... Though yesterday I was slightly disappointed he didn't let Cal C have a tow in the last 10 mins or so of FP2!

Re: Moto GP

Spies kicked some ass considering the horrible start. If he had a clean start...who knows what would have happened? Ducati sucks. I have never liked Ducati. That said...I have never ridden a Ducati. I would not have the money for one or would not spend the money to buy one.

I wrecked my R6 last year..Hit a deer going 55 in a turn. There were nine of them in the road. It jacked me up pretty good.

Now, I just watch racing...

Go Spies!

Yeah well its back to the 1000's for next season... Should be fun!

Re: Moto GP

It's awful.

The race was red-flagged on lap two, and never resumed.

I can't imagine how Colin must feel, although there is nothing he could have done differently to avoid it.

Re: Moto GP

Nice to see lots of tributes to Marco today, I'm sure on race day there will be a fitting tribute by all the riders - a minute of noise is being talked about with all the riders out on track at once (125's, Moto2 and GP).

Would be fitting to see Rossi do well - you never know especially if its a wet race?

Was good to see Colin Edwards posting vids of blowing up pumpkins full of Tannerite with his 22-250 - hopefully the surgery went well and look forward to seeing him next year on a CRT bike.

Spies took a nasty fall going into turn one and left clutching his ribs which were already injured - hope he's going to be fit to race.

Going to be an interesting weekend followed by 1000cc bike testing on Tuesday.
