okay, im about to order a dillon 550b but cant decide if i need the strongmount or not. For the next year or so ill be mounting the dillon to a power tool stand. Im thinking the strong mount would allow me to mount the press in the middle of the stand allowing me the most leverage and stability. But at the same time the strong mount will raise the height of the press higher than i would like. Also, im not sure if the strong mount will fit on the top of the stand. Th top measures 9"x18". After looking at the stand closer i also wonder if the press would work without the strong mount. even if i mounted it on the edge id be afraid the "flare" on the top piece of metal would interfere with the ram on the press. I tried to take a picture to show the flare but not sure if ya'll can see what im talking about. It maybe flares out 3/8" at the absolute most. What do you guys think? Do i need the strong mount and the trays or can i get away without it and mount the press straight to the stand?
The stand has 2 pieces od 3/4" plywood mounted to the top, and im going to add a couple of 2x8's under another piece of 3/4" plywood for the bottom shelf to strenghten it up even more. as it sits the stand will support my weight so i dont believe stability will be an issue.
