So I want to do something a little crazy. I have a top tier scope that I would like to be able to swap between my hunting rifle and a Ruger Precision Rifle. I have the scope mounted on my hunting rifle with Nightforce picatinny style rings, so it could be an easy swap... BUT the spacing of the cross bolt slots on my hunting rifle do not match up with the standard pic rail slot spacing - the hunting rifle mounts are the factory warne bases that come on a Cooper Model 92 and accept pic style rings.

So I thought I could mount another pic rail on top of the existing RPR pic rail and custom machine cross slots into it. I would use a solid rail. Something like this maybe (need to research more & figure out how to attach it):

The better way to do things might be to custom machine the bases on the Cooper to match up with standard pic rail slot spacing.

I'm open to ideas! Ultimately I'd like to get another really nice scope, but don't have an extra $3k laying around.

Thanks.

Sounds to me like the Cooper slots are picatinny spec but the spacing isn't. Something like this might be easier to modify than figuring out how to mount the blank rail section. https://yhm.net/mini-riser.html The 1/2" greater height would be easy to deal with the Ruger adjustable stock. WYM also makes one that is 5 inches long.
