If I move a scope (3-20x50) from one rifle to another, is it best practice to re-adjust the scope rings/mount for possible cant, or is it rifle independent?

I plan to move my scope occasionally from a DTS to a Larue and back and forth. Thanks.

Re: Moving scope from one rifle to another

You'll need to readjust the zero each time no matter the platform similarities. With a good one piece mount and consistency in your mounting of it, that adjustment should be repeatable. If you ever find two rifles with the exact same zero with the same scope, keep them because that is extremely rare.

Agree with above. Leave bubble level on scope. Use a good torque wrench and similar technique each time you mount it for best results. I've pulled scopes for testing numerous times. Most of the time I'm within 0.3 mil each way of my previous zero this way.

It will depend if your base is centered to your bore. That is hit or miss and will vary directly to the similarities in builds. You may be pretty close if you are using two identical rifles with integral scope bases, but even then it can still be off.

Get a one piece mount, zero it to one rifle, then mount the assembly on your other rifle. Record your setting adjustments for both and this should be repeatable if your equipment and methods are quality and consistent.

Just get a cheap scope and call it done. The time it takes to swap, re-zero, the wasted ammo is just not worth it.
