I'm looking to replace /upgrade from an old set of Dillon Precision hearing protection that are about done.
What are your opinions on these 2 choices or others in the sub $300 price range? The ability to get a good cheek weld without breaking the seal is a key factor while shooting scoped bolt guns.

Sordins for me. I have no problems with cheek weld. The Peltors got in the way at the bottom for me in limited shooting. My friend has them and loves them though.

With the Sordin Supreme Pro X I’ve never had a cheek weld issue.
Within warranty MSA were fantastic replacing the battery box.
Now out of warranty and I have the same issue of the lower battery tab folding down and losing tension and therefore adequate contact with the battery. Simple fix is to get a dental pic and bend it gently back up. It’s a known weakness of the SP-X.
Just so you are advised.

Samething happened to mine. Easy fix.

I just purchased my second pair of Sordins. I won't lie, I got the wrap around model for use with helmets because it's the super cool guy thing to do. I just purchased the standard model. Just a hint when buying electronic ear pro: Take the darn batteries out when storing them. I didn't shoot for a year and left the batteries in, and they leaked. My old ones shut off randomly, including when gun shots go off, and they got a LOT quieter. Just picked up a pair of normal Sordin Pro-X's and WOW are they louder. They also fold, which is super neato, and something I wished the behind the neck model had.

The behind the neck ones are much more comfortable, though.

As a person who requires the best hearing protection, I've spent extensive time researching and literally trying and using every single major brand out there.

These are the best I've used, and I've tried the entire Peltor line:
3M Peltor SV Tactical Pro Hearing Protector

I have no cheek weld issues with them, they offer the best hearing protection. When shooting my .308 rifle I always also use 33db foam plugs.

I have both. Get the Sordins.

Better warranty/customer service, and the ability to plug in music/training videos without an expensive extra cable.
Are you doing anything to help get the music louder? I plug my music in and at full volume they are just barely loud enough to hear. Is there an amplified cable I need or anything? This is with the sound on my phone all the way up and the sordins all the way up

This and I love my sordins but if you drop them on the ground you may also have to remove and reinsert the batteries if they jostled loose. Happened to me a few times. I’m kinda hard on equipment though.

I have an old set of Sordins that work, but occasionally shut off. Got a new set of the DEHP’s and they have been great.

Get the gel earcups for whatever you decide.

Have you insured that your battery cap is tight? Mine would turn off everytime I put them on/off. Thought they were going bad but I just forgot to screw the cap on tight. Something small to check anyways

Do these come with the gel filled ear cushions?

After giving up on my Etymotic ESP’s, I gave them another shot with some aftermarket foam tips. What a difference! I only wish they were the rechargables instead of the battery ones.

I used them for a full day match with plenty of braked rifles around me and they worked great. I thought I’d need to get expensive muffs to get the protection I needed, but the Etymotics work awesome. I’d seriously look at them before buying clunky muffs.

Yeah, I’ve worked them over, changed batteries, etc. I still use them off and on, I just know they will shut off occasionally.
