Hope i can get some help with this...

I purchased a bbl in MTU contour. As i understand it and from an opinion from a well known bbl maker that a straight taper bbl should be...well...straight tapered, and not "wavey" going down to the muzzle

I've been told by the smith who cut and chambered the bbl that the wavey lines on their bbl is normal from how they machine it, "with a small straight cylinder out front"

Problem is there are multiple wavey lines from diff lengths on this bbl

From the attached photo i can only show one part of the "non-straight taper" unable to get the correct angle for the wavey line right about the middle length of the bbl.

This is also NOT the 1st time it has happened with this smith/shop. Seems like another member had the same issue and they offered to fix it. I did not get this offer, instead an explanation of why straight taper is not straight taper? ?

Also I've purchased M24 and MTU profile from the same shop and none of those bbls had these wavey lines.

I'd prefer not to name shop at this time.

Oops sorry can anyone move to bolt section or should i repost this there?

I have not shot it yet because i wanted a possible exchange...or possible credit or one of their brakes (originally asked for 2..realized that may've been too much)

Is that wavy line right in the same spot as the wrench flats? If it is it's from them spinning the barrel while standing it on a belt sander, which is common practice to make it look nice once machining is done. If it was by the flats, it is just because the belt flexed around the flats and it looks different.

it was contoured by the smith i believe.

This is similar to what he told me. however there is also another wavy reflection towards the middle if the contour (but really difficult to get on photo)

spoke with the shop/smith and will be returning the bbl for re-sanding. He wouldn't admit it, then later mentioned "it's a little issue"

Hopefully will get the bbl back in timely manner.
