Rifle Scopes Mueller turret scopes??

Re: Mueller turret scopes??

They are suppost to be not clear on the higher magnifications (just based on what I've heard), which would not be surprising for the that mag range at that price. If you need a 32x scoope for extreme distance shooting or benchrest shooting the cheapest way to get decent optics at high ranges are the fixed power Weavers. If you want a tactical scope Muellers other offerings, the 4-14.5 APT and the 2-10 TacII are decent tactical scopes, and excellent values for what you get.

Re: Mueller turret scopes??

My experience with Mueller FWIW:
Bought an APT (basically a 30 mm APV with exposed turrets).
Was not impressed with the play in the turrets. Was quite impressed with the glass and sight picture for the price.
Mounted it on a 10/22 and it would not hold zero.
Sent it back to Mueller (along with the required check for $12 to cover return shipping).
The scope was tested on a 17HMR with five shots, and the report was that it was just fine.
Asked them to please test it again, this time something that shoots a greater-than-20 grain bullet.
When the scope was tested on a hard-kicking 22LR, the scope was proven to not hold zero, which was ascribed to a "defect from the factory."
Customer service was courteous and responses to emails were fast.
About two and a half weeks after I sent it in, I received a replacement with an obviously used bikini cover.
The replacement holds zero, but the turrets feel even worse than the one I returned.

Re: Mueller turret scopes??

I have one on my .308 that has held up to many adjustments...infact i wrote a review on it...it has seen now about 400 rounds and is still working strong

Re: Mueller turret scopes??

Do you really need 32X?
The "Eraticator" line is an 8.5-25 illuminated dot. They have been out for a while and many people have used them in F Class and such, they have target turrets with caps and an AO.
I own several Mueller scopes, I like them very much and thier customer service is very good. They have good glass in them, especially when you consider the price point.

Re: Mueller turret scopes??

I dont necessarily need a 32x scope, but definitely something 20x or more.

Target turret knobs arent the same as tactical turret right? I am wanting tactical turret knobs I believe. The ones that dont require you to unscrew the protective cap to adjust MOA.

The Mueller Eradicator looks good, but it comes with target turrets I believe.

The Nikon Bushmaster is interchangeable somehow with tactical knobs and target knob caps. Of course, I would rather just have the tactical mounted securely on there.

I have read some good things about SS scopes.

Re: Mueller turret scopes??

SS are great scopes, but if you need at least 20x, you'd have to get the 20x fixed. If it were me, I just couldn't live with such a ridiculously small field of view, watching my heartbeat.

Nikon Buckmasters (please stop calling it Bushmaster LOL) are great scopes for the cash.

Re: Mueller turret scopes??

ha. I didnt realize I was typing Bushmaster. Habit I guess.

I have a 14x Burris scope mounted on my LR308 right now, and shooting it at 700 yards seems to be stretching it. I figured for 1000 yard shots, I would need to be up at around 20x at least.

Planning on putting it on a AR-30 338LM.

Re: Mueller turret scopes??

Why dont SS scopes come in many variable powers? It seems like a great scope, but wouldnt you be limited in a fixed scope when shooting long range?

I have always found the target while zoomed out, then zoom in.

Re: Mueller turret scopes??

Hey Stringer,

That looks like a great scope, but it doesnt come with tactical knobs I dont think. I am really wanting one with tactical. Any suggestions on that?
I am planning on upgrading the scope one day, but its gonna clear out the wallet just getting the 338LM. I wont be able to just sit the rifle there and wait for the $ to get a nightforce, etc. Something is gonna have to suffice in the mean time.
