Multicam Viperskins

I have always really been impressed with the group G.A. Precision uses. I think its Roberts Hydrographics.
OK, a neophyte here, but why do so many of the member here have to have a certain type of camo pattern painted on to their stocks or skins? Doesn't the area in which one is operating predicate the pattern/color of a camouflage pattern? Why the heck don't ya just get some enamel paints, a little airbrushing kit and do it to fit your terrain from season to season? Just asking . . .

"neophyte here"...1,253 posts...I'll assume dripping with sarcasm.
Cause most members here aren't "operators", and want a gun that looks good to them. The same way you pick the color of your car, or the clothes you wear.
"Back in the Day" there were different kinds of woods used on stocks, now just plain synthetics that people like to dress up a little.

The alternative is we can have a flames or wild colors like our Benchrest brethren? If he wants FLAMING pink then drive on, if he wants Multicam then drive on. He is out shooting and why does it matter the color or lack of color?
I'm going to paint my next rifle just like my motorcyle.... Pleanty of deer seem attracted to it lately. While I'm at it I might mount a deer whistle to my extra picante rail...
I was thinking the same thing and then they have a scratch & dent sale on viperskins that they have dipped & flubbed a bit!

Planets aligned for me! I got Viperskins at a discount and a multi-cam "AS-IS" paint/dip job!
So far I am pleased - we'll see when they get here!

Yeah I jumped a bit too soon without paying attention.
I bought a set of AIAW/AE 1.5 skins for my AICS 1.5
When I got them the installation was interrupted, as they did NOT correctly fit.
My first reaction was DENIAL: "What the...? These HAVE to fit!" Nope.
Next: ANGER. ARGH! Victor sent me the wrong stock skins! Nope.
Bargaining came next: "I wonder if they will accept a return on these 'AS IS' stocks...?" (I didn't even attempt to contact Victor due to my own stupidity)
Depression: "Awwww Crap.... These sure are pretty... Maybe I can make a lamp out of them...?"
Eventually Acceptance was my motivator: "Well, if I have to keep these, then lets see about MAKING them fit!"
Sure enough, a little trimming with an X-acto knife and dremel tool (the best Gunsmithing tool ever made! - As I am SURE many Gunsmiths have employment due to DIY'rs that FUDGE up firearms with a dremel tool!)
The backside of the Viper Skins actually had INDEXING marks from the mold that showed WHERE and how much to TRIM to make the AIAW/AE stock into the AICS stock!
Amazing!
I am pleased and got off VERY cheaply!
My last step was three coats of ULTRA-FLAT top coat as these were VERY shiney stocks.
