I have been considering putting a muzzle brake on a Bergara HMR chambered in 6.5 creedmoor. My concern has been the increased noise that fellow shooters may experience as a result of attaching the brake. The brake that I would attached would be the Hellfire 419. Can anyone explain how much additional noise would be generated?

All the effective brakes, PVA Jet Blast, Little Bastard, Area 419, MPA (Alamo 4 Start) are all very effective brakes. Because they are effective, they direct a LOT of blast and noise to the sides and back towards the shooter and his neighbors.
Get a suppressor - your shooting buddies will be thanking you, and you will develop less headaches from the blast if you shoot a lot.

His response is why I keep my braked 458 in my car, when I go to the range. First one to bitch about “low recoil and muzzle brake”, that gun comes out. Then i ask them if it’s better now?

My problem is that I shoot at a range that has less than ten stations , all pretty close together. Ticking off nine other shooters will not make an enjoyable day at the range for me or them.
Brakes are very much a part of long range shooting. It's not always fun to be laying next to them, but it's just part of the game. I don't get pissed off if someone is running them.

My ears rang for 4 days after I stupidly forgot my hearing protection On the four wheeler while hog hunting the other day. I fired off one shot from my .308 AR-10 with a Area 419 brake next to a tree. I never shoot without some type of hearing protection and that day reminded of why.
It's both financially and legally possible to take Fred's option.
After shooting next to 'that guy' enough times I quit caring and became 'that guy.' No different than when your all comfy hurling practice .223's down range and a WM shows up on your left side. Guns are loud. Percussion travels. Shit happens.
I shoot with a guy that started putting is brake out past the slab a bit. He throws a car floor mat down in the dirt under the brake to keep the dust down. It is far enough out that the percussion is less, and the mat keeps the dust from popping. He is more considerate than I am.

Comes down to your wants and needs. Match shooters in PRS style matches have brakes on all their rifles and you have to shoot next to people with brakes. You get used to it. I know some guys at ranges get their panties in a bunch when a guy with a brake shoots next to them but hey it's a rifle range. If you don't like noise then you are at the wrong place. LOL I always wear two sets of ears when at the range anyways so no issues with brakes either on mine or others rifles.
I shot my Armalite AR50 next to a guy at a local range one day. He had a cup of coffee and ammo boxes on the bench. I warned him politely that he may want to move the coffee. He shrugged his shoulders and said it can’t be that bad! LOL

I've been hit in the face with debris twice by somebody next to me. The first time the moron just had it installed and was it's first shot down range. The bullet intercepted the brake. He got dressed down for using me as a test dummy. The second one was one of the Ruger PRPOS rifles. He got a lecture on compressed loads in a low recoil rifle and the % of powder burned. So, it is about the needs, wants, and the chances the shooter may be a fucking idiot. They show up with all the right Internet gear. That is my first clue to ask him a couple of questions when asks if it is okay.
Can you expand on this a little bit? I'm picking up my first precision rifle today, and it comes with a brake on it. I was planning on running through break-in on an indoor rifle range. Should I ask the people in the lanes next to me to step back for my first shot? I don't want to be that moron.

Brakes on typical PRS or Precision rifle’s are on the end of 22 to 26 inch barrels. They really are not any louder, actually often less of an issue for other shooters than the guy at the range with a 16” AR.

I've only had one guy at the range say something to me about shooting with a brake and that was a 338 lapua. I would say about 80% are running a brake at the ranges I go to so there isn't any whining.
I laughed at the f class guy that played next to my buddy then asked him to move. He was nice and moved but I would have told him I was there first and to get fucked. He seen what was there before he picked that bay.

I’ve never heard of noise making people mad at a gun range, I use beast brakes from muzzle brakes and more, far cheaper than APA and Terminator for a quarter of the price and take the same if not more recoil out. If they don’t like the noise maybe they should wear ear protection that’s the smart thing to do at the range! Lol
The last time I was at the range, the guy next to me was laughing and commenting on the blast from my brake...just before his hot brass hit me upside the head.

I have a Lantac Dragon on a 12.5” 308. It’s a beast and I’d never ask anyone for permission! LOL
One of our local shooters had to stop shooting last season due to tinitus. Even though he uses hearing protection, the constant blast from the brake is transmitted through your facial bones and can cause damage. A solid suggestion is to keep your mouth closed when shooting with a brake (should be anyways), but it make more material for the last to travel through to get to the inner ear.
A bunch of local competitive shooters have started training and some competing with suppressors even though the brake is better for reducing muzzle movement.
If your shooting a lot, running a suppressor is going to be better for your hearing over the years - particularly if your also wearing hearing protection when shooting suppressed.

Exactly. I'm having what alcoholics refer to as a moment of clarity. BTW, to those fucking idiots that think I'm referring to noise. Since the move to Scout I've seen a upswing of idiotic members. Dumb motherfuckers migrated with the move back to SH proper. Have to ask what they need to buy so they don't look out of uniform. These are the fucking cunts. I'm not referring to the OP. Suppressors add their own list of cons to shooting as well. Length, mirage even with covers and possible movement. They aren't perfect and also cost a good deal more and months before you can get them after doing paperwork.
As for transfer of through bones in the face then use a stock pack. Nothing coming through stock and any good brake doesn't send Blast at shooter so it's not hitting you. Using double ears helps too.
This guy was shooting a little bastard from APA. I borrowed his rifle for 1 match and after the first day my head was hurting from the brake. For sure some of the blast on some brakes is directed towards the rear (not 90 degrees from the barrel), and the shooter gets some of it in those cases.
I don't think that suppressors are the perfect solution either, but some brakes are worse than others.
Shooting suppressed is a good way to go to reduce blast for yourself and others, but everyone needs to make their own decision on which way to go.

That's why you choose the right brake for you. No they aren't 90 degrees but they also don't send the Blast back at shooter but out to the side and back. Shooter is behind rifle. Some can be louder than others and that APA is known to be one of the worst offenders.
I sure do appreciate the guys that buy suppressors. Makes it so I don't have to struggle to hear my brake over their rifles.
If your bitching about someone using a brake at a distance range you probably need to take some Midol then go buy your own f*cking land to shoot on.
