Getting ready to have a new lefty .260 built by Russell at Scout Supply Co and was curious if I should have a muzzle break put on till my suppressor arrives? I'm planning on going with a 22" M24 contour. I have a .260 now with a HV contour at 26" and it has minimal muzzle rise and recoil as it is.
Will the shorter barrel and lighter contour benefit from a brake or would it just make it louder and waste money? Thanks!

Yes it will benefit. If you don't mine the noise and scaring off your neighbors at the range, go for it. I'm putting an apa little Jimmy brake on my 26" Krieger target contour build because, why not? Mine will probably be pushing 15lbs all up and will be primarily a target gun. The muzzle brake is just an added bonus

I am mounting a SUREFIRE MB 762 to my 308 varmit contour. Kills 2 birds with one stone, as I will order a Surefire suppressor later this year. I have one on my Colt A R. S D M RIFLE w/20 inch fluted Compass Lake 1:8 barrel, and it makes a world of difference.

I have a Surefire brake on my 260. It just about eliminates all felt recoil. I have really liked the Surefire brakes but it takes a little extra work and cash as the barrel needs to be contoured. Have you already purchased the suppressor or have to decided on the one(s)?

Yeah, I have a thunderbeast 30P-1 that should be getting final approval in the next couple of months(my checked cashed thru NFA oct 3rd) wish I would have gone with a brake attached model but at the time I thought thread on was the way to go.
So, needless to say, the brake will most probably be removed once the can gets here. My smith said he usually goes with a badger thruster model. I may just go ahead and try it out just to see the difference.
