Muzzle brake for Tikka 6.5 creedmoor

There are 3 that come to mind and I have used all of them.
Patriot Valley Arms - Jet Blast
Area 419 - Hellfire
APA - Little Bastard Gen II
Either one of those will suite your needs and reduce your recoil. The hellfire is very appealing if you plan on buying a SilencerCo or Thunderbeast Suppressor.

A suppressor. And it is wonderful. Or the PVA Jet Blast is nice, except for the guy shooting next to you.
Heathen gets my vote.
I've used the following self timing brakes:
- APA Lil Bastard Gen 2 - effective, but obnoxious to the shooter, annoying that it needs a wrench to tighten
- Area 419 - effective, still directs blast back to shooter (not as much as APA), needs a wrench to tighten, easily gets carbon locked
- Insite Arms Heathen - most pleasant to shoot, effect recoil reduction without directing blast back to shooter, doesn't require wrench, not susceptible to carbon locking

The 419 is my preference as it has the adapter available to add my Omega suppressor. There are a couple in the exchange as we speak.
Our Jetblast brake has no blast onto the shooter by design.
Our recoil reduction meets or exceeds the competitors named here and does so without any blast to the shooter, no carbon lockup, it doesn't shed detritus back into the shooter's face, self timing, doesn't need a wrench to tighten though most folks elect to for peace of mind, and of the list here it's also the least expensive.

My tests with a ballistic pendulum showed about 2.5% for a Creedmoor sized case.

I make the brakes in 6.5mm not only for 6.5's to make up the difference seen with a 22 or 6 in a 30c (closer to 5% with a 22c) and the market wants it. We don't make a 6mm because when tested it was so little difference compared to the 6.5 that we could not measure it.
I have been looking at PVA Jetblast, area 419 and APA little bastard. I really am not that concerned with recoil reduction as they all seem to be in the same ballpark there. What I am interested in is the ability to keep the rifle on target for follow up shots and possibly seeing my hits and misses. Right now my break kicks the rifle up and left and it takes some time to reaquire my target. I would like to find something that allows me to see my hits and misses.
We have a number of reviews on the website praising the product for exceptional recoil reduction and the other noted features I commented on above.
Depending what 6.5 you're referring to will depend on the amount of reduction but for something the size of a Creedmoor case (x47, 260, Creed, etc) the recoil reduction is as good or better than all the others we're talking about here. Quoting #s can be misleading because of how the test was performed but based on a ballistic pendulum approach we got 6.5 Creed PRIME 130's with a reduction of appx 57-58% with a 14lb match rifle.
There are some things that come from a shooter's position that can cause this but that's not something a brake can fix. It will happen with or without a good brake on the gun.
What I can tell you is that a good brake will reduce those effects but if you as a shooter are doing something aggregiously wrong in driving the rifle there is no brake that will cure it.
The jetblast makes for a substantial reduction in recoil. Muzzle rise is directly related to recoil such that a 50% decrease in recoil will cut muzzle rise by 50%; 25% will cut rise by 25%, 90% (ridiculous I know) would cut rise by 90% if all other things are held equal.
I don’t think the issue is my shooting position as I have shot other people’s rifles and don’t have the same problem. My rifle has an inexpensive break on it right now that was given too me. I have a good friend with an area 419 brake on his rifle and I could almost keep it on target. I was just a little high after each shot. His rifle is a few pounds lighter than mine though. I have honestly been planning to buy the PVA Jetblast so I’m happy to hear that it should meet my needs. Thanks for all your help.

They talk about this exact thing. I went with a Hellfire in .30 cal on my 6.5. Would consider Heathen as well due to reviews here on the hide. PVA I am sure is great. But I want a suppressor at some point.
Reduction on the 6.5 with a .30 cal brake is very good. I doubt that i could tell the difference.
I just received my PVA Jetblast for my PVA 6.5x47 barrel and I was amazed how little blast there was from it even standing next to it while my Dad shot it. It is definitely noticeably less than other brakes. PVA got right. @bohem

A friend let me barrow a PVA Jetblast brake he hadn’t mounted yet. It was a 30 cal and my rifle is a 6.5 but I figured the difference would be minimum. I got to the range briefly and it shot like a different rifle. No problem at all keeping on target. All the recoil came straight back which is what my previous break was not doing. I put the cheap break on the rifle because I had it and didn’t really know what I wanted but now I know what I will be ordering. I think I will be getting one for my 308 as well. I was pretty surprised at the back blast too. It was a lot more mid than I expected. It didn’t seem nearly as bad as the Hellfire I shot.
The issue isn’t my fundamentals. This is really the only rifle I have problems with. My 308 has a tanker style brake on it and I have no issue with it. Recoil comes straight back and gets absorbed by the body and the rifle stays on target. I just don’t really like the look of the break. I wanted something a little more streamlined for this rifle. I have quite a few other rifles as well but they are all pretty tame on the recoil side. The only thing I have that is close would be a 243 that my son shoots. We put an Odin atlas on his rifle which is an excellent brake but it is a three piece design and not really what I wanted.
Shot a pig yesterday evening with my Tikka 6.5 with a hellfire brake out of a box stand. I will not do it again with out ear protection on. It was every bit of two times as load as with out break. Did see impact on pig at 150 yards, so that is good. Need to get a suppressor.

I had a Browning A Bolt Eclipse with the BOSS muzzle brake on it. one shot out of an enclosed blind and I sold that f%&÷ing thing. My ears rang for two days.
Hi, first post here, actually a reply. I just picked up a Tikka T3X TAC A1 in 6.5cm. What is the accuracy degradation with the brake vs without? I read a post on the Shilen Barrel site stating a break can effect Barrel harmonics in a negative way? Thanks
dont do load development without one then add it after. easy enough
What B6graham said. Adding anything to a barrel, whether it be a suppressor, brake or even a Magnetospeed will change the harmonics.
If you already have a load developed, it may require some tweaking to get it shooting again.
Usually it is just a slight change in the charge weight.
My son has that brake on his 6.5 Creed. It does reduce recoil very well, but it is brutal to be anywhere near it.
I wonder why brake manufacturers don't offer objective evidence of their product's recoil reduction and sound pressure level changes at the shooter's location.
I don't even particularly care if I have a comparison between all brakes known to man. I'd be happy with just a report showing % recoil reduction and decibel increase behind the stock for a particular brake compared to the same unbraked test rifle. Not perfect but better than "it works better because I say it does" which is what everyone pretty much does now.
Yeah I know that shit costs time and money (especially a good SPL meter) but it's the only way some of us will believe any claims.
