Gentleman, I have the option to buy a brake in two materials, one is stainless and the other chrome moly, which would hold up better with coloring or bluing? Would either finish hold up to the gasses exiting a brake? I am real tempted to order a stainless brake and add a little krylon to dull it like I do for some of my extended choke tubes, and just paint as needed.

Any thoughts?

You cannot blue stainless. It can be coated with a lot of other wonderful coatings. Stainless is a little softer but it should not be an issue. They are made from both types of metal all the time.
