Muzzle Brake question

I am trying to finish up a AR-10 (LR308) accuracy build in 6.5 Creedmoor that I have been working on for quite some time now. I am down to deciding on a muzzle brake to basically finish it up. What I have is a barrel that ends in a diameter of 0.925", so I need a muzzle brake at least 0.925", though preferably slightly a little larger diameter. I know that there are a fair number of brakes that would fill the need, but I am specifically looking for one that the ports are not angled back toward the shooter as much as most. I am really looking for one that diverts the blast more toward the side as much as possible while still maintaining the utmost accuracy and preventing muzzle rise as much as possible. I am willing to sacrifice a slight amount of increased kick to prevent some of the blast being diverted back toward the shooter. Let me what you would suggest are my best options.

I like the ATS , works really well, very easy on the back blast. I am putting a hellfire match on an upper tonight, will see if it measures up to the ATS.

You can try the Precision Armament EFAB. Not as blasty as some and perhaps not as efficient at recoil reduction as others, but a good compromise for reducing muzzle jump without concussion.

I have been really impressed with how comfortable I was shooting 300winmag with a Terminator T4, I was comfortably shooting with only well inserted ear plugs, no muffs over the top although it does direct blast back if you don't want to annoy others on the line.

The other end of the spectrum would be a brake/blast forwarder, I have bought these for most of my rifles, reduced recoil and less noise than a bare muzzle for shooter and anyone on the firing line.

I believe Sure-fire is probably the practical option in North America?

I have across the Insite Arms Heathen and the Ace muzzle brakes. Both kinda sound like the type of muzzle brake that I am interested in. They both claim to tame recoil very close to the more aggressive muzzle brakes while not beating up the shooter with blast. Does anyone have any opinions on either? Is there any truth to their claims? Is there others claiming the same results? I am just trying to make the most informative buying decision. Thanks for any help or replies.

After a 2 day match, I have much less of a headache after shooting with an Ace than a Hellfire. The difference in performance is minimal with my Dasher.

I have one rifle with the Ace, it works really well and is shooter/ bench neighbor friendly. The ATS tames recoil a bit better, but they are really close.

APA GEN3 Little Bastard
Area 419 Hellfire & Hellfire Match
Precision Armament Hypertap

I run all the above on my 6.5CM Gassers with excellent results, none of them have any rearward muzzle blast. As mentioned above the Precision Armament EFAB is the best at reducing recoil and muzzle blast.

I solely shoot suppressed now, but when I did a lot of shooting with braked rifles previously my preference was always the Insite Heathen. I have no experience with the Ace.

Recoil reduction of the Insite Heathen is very good, and it does a decent job mitigating blast back to the shooter. Definitely more pleasant than say a 419 Hellfire or similar.

However, for concussion mitigation, nothing is going to beat a suppressor, if that's your main concern.

Surprised by your inclusion of the little bastard in the list. My experience is that as a break it is wonderful, but the concussion hits the shooter and those near you really hard!

I don't feel any of the blast, but the people to my left and right sure do.

When it comes to effectively shooting large frame gassers and running muzzle brakes recoil reduction/control is the name of the game, maybe I'm just not hypersensitive to muzzle blast.

The Gen3 LB is adjustable so dialing it in for a clean straight to the rear recoil impulse is what's going to get you the faster follow-up shots and the ability to spot your impact and missed shots for proper corrections.

Agreed it is a spectacularly effective brake. I had them on three rifles 5.56, .308 and 6.5 Cm ( the last 2 were bolt guns). All three were gen 3s. But I shoot with my adult (sort of) kids and even with double ear pro they both end up with bad headaches so they all got tossed, they were just not worth it. I tried ACE and they are good and bench mate friendly. I have put ATS on the the others as they have a better brake performance and similar neighbor friendliness. With either the ace or ats brakes you really only feel a warm wind.

E C Tuner Brake.
Modified blast diversion angles cover recoil and back blast mitigation.
Also as the name implies works very well as a tuner.
One model for bench rest competition has no rearward angle to meet the rules.
