Buddy of mine had Accurate Ordnance install this brake and blend in with the barrel. He now wants to remove it and can’t get in touch with AO. I assume it’s threaded on but what else would have been used to secure it?

I need to know how to remove it before I just start wrenching on it? Heat gun and torque? I do have an action wrench to use as well.

    thanks.

    That’s a beautiful blend job.

Something like Rokksett might have been used, in which case I advise sticking the muzzle in a pot of boiling water for 10 minutes, then putting the barrel in a barrel vise and either a strap wrench around or a screwdriver through the ports of the muzzle brake.

My brake from AO was on pretty tight. So much so I asked Mark if they used anything on it. He said typically they dont...and there was nothing in my build notes. Anyways, just had to lean into it a bit more that I am used to. Popped right loose.

Sadly, AO closed in Jan. Mark and crew are good peeps...just a lot of things came together to drive that decision.

Gen 2 little bastard. It’s a very effective brake but too much concussion to the shooter. He hates it.

    Thanks for the help guys.

Gotcha. I've been using an APA little bastard on my Tikka CTR and I like it. I just got a Micro installed on a 7mm Rem Mag and haven't got out to shoot yet. What caliber is he shooting?

Id still check with the manufacture i believe christianson arms has theres silver soldered on. blend is nice since its cerakoted lol

look into the port , use a cell phone camera if needed look for threads the break will have threads deeper than the muzzle, if its rocksett it needs water to loosen it up. let it soak overnight. if its locktite heat will help.

and plan on the cerakote chipping durring removal at the seam

wrap 2 20 penny nails with electricions tape and put them in separate holes, butt of stock between your feet and try it . you will have 4 points of contact and shouldn't burr the brake. might need to lube those threads next time.

Might not be the same, but when jp blends their barrels and brakes, they use shims to time. Next they throw the barrel/break combo back on the lathe and dress it with 800 grit paper for a seamless transition. A similar method could’ve been used prior to coating and that could be why it appears as part of the barrel
