Gunsmithing Muzzle Brake

Looking to install a brake on a TC Compass . Got one with a crush washer. Can anyone help on how to time it with the crush washer

I don't use crush washers for brakes. Crush washers are for flash hiders. Shims are for brakes if you aren't capable of timing it by adjusting the length with a lathe.

When I ordered it it came with a crush washer

Buy shims - Precision Armaments has a neat set - instead of using a crush washer. Bore clearances are much tighter on brakes than flash hiders.

Crush washers are cheap, which is why it was included with the brake.

Buy some shims from McMaster-Carr. They have many variations of ID and OD. You should be able to find what you need.

you can also time it with a jam nut if you have enough threads. shims are probably the way to go.

A machinist took the crush washer and took some material off of it and we timed it perfectly that way

I've been enamored by this thumbhole design and have made about a half a dozen of them for myself and friends.
I build them for contenders and get better at it every time.
I like finding the designs inside the wood.

Too much time involved to sell at a reasonable price.
I'd probably send clients to Marty at Haus of Arms.
I'm sure they use CNC machinery and can provide Buttstock and forearm for under $200.
