I use Hornady 6.5 CM 140 gr ELM match ammo exclusively. The manufacturers listed muzzle velocity is 2710 fps and that is the number I enter in my Kestrel/Hornady 5700 4DOF. My elevation adjustments are always correct for yardages 100 - 600. Just curious if muzzle velocity being off by say +/- 50 fps at these distances would have any affect on accuracy?

Hi Paul, are you shooting on paper at 500-600 or just ringing steel?

This is where the MV calibration comes in, you could be hitting but off of the poa/poi, and the MV adjustment would calibrated that.

If you only have steel a painted water mark at center and someone on good glass to see your hits would help.

At 400-500-600 yards, I'm shooting 6" diameter steel plates. The only glass I have is a Vortex PST Gen II 5-25x50 and the hits all appear to be grouped pretty much in the center of the plate.
