Hunting & Fishing Muzzleloader

So after muzzleloader season ended last year I gave my muzzleloader to a kid learning how to hunt, now I'm a few months away from muzzleloader season again and haven't picked up another one yet.
My old gun was a .45cal cva kodiak magnum, my dad and literally everyone else I know swears by .50cal muzzleloaders but based solely on my prior experience with my 45 I honestly have no desire to go the 50cal route. So who's making a decent .45cal muzzleloader right now? I've seen and have been quite intrigued by the new cva paramount but havent really heard any hands of reports on it.

A little extra thump never hurts. I like my 50 cal, it likes Hornady XTP’s.

My buddy has a CVA that must be....well hell it's OLD. Somehow he forgot to clean it and pulled i tout of the safe a few years ago the barrel looked like a gravel road. cleaned it, ran a 250g down the pipe.....2 shots same hole 100 yards. That was kind of impressive

I'm always surprised with my muzzleloader: Least expensive weapon i own that can punch a .50 cal hole 2x in a row. I wouldn't hesitate to migrate from .45 to .50. Not much of a difference, still have to wait for the cloud to lift to see if you did the damage.

I found a used, in brand new condition cva accura in 45 for a great price. I will more than likely be putting better glass and rings on it (it's got barska and the rings have Phillip's head screws....never seen that other than cheap pellet guns lol) I have a mil/ffp athlon sitting on a spare ar upper I might swap over to it, never know when you might need 30x on a muzzleloader lol

I have a knight disc extreme. It is a great gun. I measure my powder on the scale and it is great.

Check out Pittman bullets. He specializes in smokeless muzzleloader bullets. He has many offerings with BCs of .400 and better. I only have experience with 45 caliber smokeless muzzleloaders, but it's not hard to get a 300 grain, 45 caliber bullet to go 2800 fps in a 26" barrel. The 275 grain bullets easily reach 2950 fps in the same barrel length.

TC Triumph in 50 cal with 240gn XTP’s does wonders in my experience within realistic ML ranges.

I ran a few hornady 200gr sst sabots thru it yesterday (.40 bullet). Shot about 20 shots with a labradar and was leaving barrel averaging 2050 fps with 105gr of hodgdon 777. Was not impressed at all with the accuracy, forgot a tool kit so I'll be removing the scope and rechecking torque on everything and picking up some other projectiles to try out.
