Need some advice....I have an LMT MWS 308 with a 16” chrome lined barrel. I’m going to purchase a 13.5 barrel and I’m torn between the 5r rifled stainless barrel and just getting the chrome lined 1/10 for substantially cheaper on the aftermarket.
Local range is 500 yards and in. Also have a 1000 yard range nearby I may visit. Will be suppressed. Light run and gun, and off the bench shooting at the range on a bipod.
Is the 5r barrel worth the extra money for the accuracy gain over the chrome lined? And am I missing anything that the chrome lined might give me over the 5r?

My original MWS came with a 16" SS bbl. It will do sub MOA, like 3/4 to 7/8 fairly regularly. My friend's CL will do the same. So, it's a toss up for accuracy and certainly the CL will last longer. Now, my 6.5 SS is a true hammer.

Some of the cl barrels are excellent. Mine does 1.5-2moa most of the time.

My experience as well. This goes for my 16" 308-as mentioned I only have a handful of rounds through it-FGMM-that my Sharpshooter shoots sub-moa almost all of the time with me (very average shooter) on the trigger. From what I've read most of the people with LMT cl barrels get better accuracy-and I believe them because there is too many reports to be just the fanboys.

For 556-I picked up a New Zealand reference rifle-16" cl-also only shot a few times-that I have yet to crack 1moa with to date. I have a KAC 16" cl that I've been shooting more to breakin/get used too that was not the greatest shooter but it's getting better and approaching 1 moa.

I'm just an average shooter at best and I have a lot of bad shooting days lol.

I have a LMT and a SR25 ACC as well. The ACC out shoots the LMT at 100yds by about 1/4" with 175FGMM. The ACC does start to open up after about 3 rounds or so due to the low profile barrel heating up quick.
