Hunting & Fishing My 10 year old daughter got her first deer today!!

I am not sure who is more excited, her or me! She has wanted to hunt since she was 3. She started coming with me hunting deer when she was 6 and we bought her first tag a week ago and she filled it tonight with a .243 w/ Barnes 85 grain triple shock.

Nice big doe kept pointed straight at us. I told her to go ahead and take a mid neck shot. She DRILLED it 1/4" off dead center at right around 100 yards. Bullet excited right side hind quarter. I am VERY impressed with the Barnes triple shock in .243.

Thanks Guys! I will give her the "congrats" and a big hug. She is very proud of her deer! She had a great shot. All of her practicing paid off nicely!

The dangling earrings and blue fingernail polish is a nice touch!

Congratulations to your daughter and you for taking her. By the smile on her face I don't think she will ever forget this hunt. I know I remember my first deer. I wish I would have had it mounted. Did not have the money.

She started shooting in May of this year (age 10). Lots of dot drills with the Anschutz Silouette off a bag or a bipod and then to practice with the 6.5 creedmoor w/ suppressor. She is an EXCELLENT student. We went through most of the exercises in the SH online training class. Her first shot with the 6.5 CM was at 100 yards at a Brad Arnett 6"x6" AR500 plate and she missed dead center by about 3/8" That was using a bipod and squeeze bag. I would like to say it was because she had a great instructor but the truth is, she is a natural and she listens well to instruction.

I did get her to spread the rib cage while i cut out the throat, heart and lungs. Other than that, she held the flash light.

Not a bad deal for her!

She just started baiting her own hook this year so she has made progress this year!
